I Stole the Spotlight From My Cousin and His New Wife After He Proposed at My Wedding
Before my $40k wedding, my cousin, a near stranger, said, “I’m going to propose at your reception.” I frowned.
“Don’t you dare! Absolutely not. My husband and I paid too much for this day to have it
overshadowed.” He grinned. “Relax, it’ll be fun.” He went ahead anyway, proposing just as we were about to cut the cake.
Ignoring my warning, he dropped to one knee during the reception, and I was told to stop being dramatic. Three years later, at his wedding, I raised my glass during my toast.
“Congratulations to the happy couple! And while we’re celebrating family, my husband and I are thrilled to share-we’re expecting twins!” Now, my family is divided.
My cousin, aunt, and mom think I ruined their wedding out of spite. My dad, sister, and a few other relatives think my cousin had it coming.
My husband says he’s proud of me for standing up for myself, but a couple of my friends said I might’ve gone too far.
